Meghan Markle latest news: Harry’s wild side ‘died’ when he met Meg as couple face ‘all or nothing’ over Royal future

PRINCE Harry used to be a wild child but things changed when he met Meghan Markle, a bombshell new book has claimed.

Speaking of a “complex” young Harry and his brother William, royal author Valentine Low writes: “The younger prince was a dashing figure, flying an Apache helicopter, and was heavily committed in the area of children’s health, with charities like Well Child. But he also used to be quite a wild lad. When Harry was young, it was easy to forgive him, his transgressions. But at what point does a wild lad become a seedy old roué? At the time, it was nothing to worry about: just something to keep an eye on.

“Eventually, of course, the problem would resolve itself, but not in a way that Lowther-Pinkerton or anyone else imagined. The wild lad died the day Harry met Meghan Markle.”

It comes as another royal writer, Duncan Larcombe, said the Sussexes must make a decisive choice over their future in the Royal Family, commenting: “In my opinion, it’s only Meghan and Harry who can decide what they want.

“Do they want to forgive and forget, creating unity with the royal family? Or do they want a wholly separated life in California? They cannot have both.”

  • Harry and William would get ‘frustrated’ with the King

Royal author, Katie Nicholl told Palace Confidential that sources had revealed to her that Prince William and Harry used to struggle to get in contact with their father because he refused to carry around a mobile phone.

Ms Nicholl said: “Well, there is a story in that, which you have just triggered my memory on, I was told by one of Charles’ aides that one of [his sons] was trying to reach him, this is quite a few years ago when they were younger, and wanted to get a hold of him.

“But Charles did not carry a mobile phone around, he could not bear the things, so when [his sons] wanted to check something, it always had to be through an aide.

“I think there were times when they got a bit frustrated by not being able to reach him. And he worked round the clock as well.”

  • ‘The Royals are nice people, they are down to earth’

Former Royal butler Grant Harrold has recalled his time with the Firm, looking back on his favourite memories of working in the role.

Speaking to Slingo, Mr Harrold spoke of how proud he is to have worked for both William and King Charles.

He said his favourite memory was: “Getting to be around the Royals. If the line of succession does happen and both Charles and William get to become kings, there’s not a lot of people who can say they looked after three monarchs.

“I feel very proud to have done that, to have looked after them and to have known them. I’ve been gone 11 years now and yet I’m still really lucky that people still want to hear the stories. I think it’s nice for people to hear that the Royals are nice people, they are down to earth and it’s a fun place to be.”

  • Harry ‘became determined to protect’ Meghan

Valentine Low, author of new bombshell book Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown, has claimed Meghan told Harry she would break up with him if he didn’t announce publicly they were dating.

According to an extract from the book, as Harry was facing “hordes of journalists” keen to dig into his new girlfriend’s life, Harry “became determined to protect” her.

But at the same time, it is claimed Meghan told him that if he didn’t announce how serious they were, she was out.

The book claims: “A source said: ‘She was saying, “If you don’t put out a statement confirming I’m your girlfriend, I’m going to break up with you”. Harry was in a panic’.

“Another source said: ‘He was freaking out, saying, “She’s going to dump me”‘.”

The father-of-nine says he has been bombarded with offers from US and UK filmmakers who want to lift the lid on his dubious paternity claims.

A Royal expert has claimed that “there is going to be a change of guard” within the royal family after Charles became King.

“He is determined that the monarchy will not be a drain on the taxpayers’ purse.”

She continued: “I don’t think Charles is going to start kicking his relatives out of their grace-and-favour apartments, especially the elderly cousins of the Queen.

“But there is going to be a change of guard, and it is going to be narrowed.”

“When Harry was young, it was easy to forgive him, his transgressions. But at what point does a wild lad become a seedy old roué?
